Your Graduate visa runs 2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026. Apply from 1 January 2027 and it runs 18 months. Count back from its end date, not from graduation.
From gov.uk: The Graduate visa cannot be extended. Holders may switch to a Skilled Worker visa from inside the UK and may qualify for the new-entrant rate. Set your dates in the timing planner.

Yes, most graduate schemes recruit before you finish. Check each plate’s condition line, because some firms set rules about the visa you hold at the start date.
